Create A Cozy Home

Heating is purely a seasonal concern for Phoenix residents. Many people know the tricks to keep their house cool, but when the conditions are reversed, they find warming their house more of a challenge. Take advantage of Sun Devil Plumbing's tips and tricks to extend heat to every nook and cranny of your house.

  • Thick curtains and decorations provide a buffer to any cold air seeping in through your windows. Make sure your windows are caulked and double paned.
  • Attics often have openings to the outdoors – especially in older buildings. Insulate your attic to prevent from any cold coming from above.
  • Rotate your ceiling fan clockwise during the winter. This will draw cold air up and keep warm air moving.
  • If your chimney is not in use, close the flue.
  • Change your furnace filter. A clean filter allows more air to pass through. This is inexpensive and easy to do. Consult you furnace owner’s manual for specific information on your machine or contact Sun Devil Plumbing for assistance.
  • Open vent registers. Make sure area in front of vents is not blocked by furniture, wall decorations or rugs.
  • Program your thermostat to run at a lower temperature when you are away from the house and at night when people are sleeping.
  • Make sure your heater is not on “rapid cycle”. When the heater has to turn on frequently, more energy is used and the indoor temperature has a higher fluctuation.

If your heating equipment is not running correctly, schedule an appointment with Sun Devil Plumbing today.
